Milestone Goals for 2009

As promised, here I am with the milestone events that I have to look forward to and where I want to be weight/size-wise when these events roll around.

I forgot to mention yesterday that I am officially down two pants sizes! I picked up a pair of jeans in a size 24W, which I haven’t been able to wear in over five years, and they’re comfortable. And since my friend Georgina keeps bugging me to put up a new picture, I took some new ones today. I really don’t see enough difference in the full-length pictures to justify updating the one in the right-hand column. But the head-shots do tell a story:

Back to the topic . . . here are some major events I have coming up this year and the weight and/or size I’d like to be by then.

March 30 — Potential book signing tour (details pending). There are about 11 weeks between now and then, so I’d like to lose at least 15 more pounds before then (or around 254-257 lbs.). That would put me squarely in a size 24, which would necessitate the purchase of at least a couple new pairs of dress pants.

May 16 — Friend’s wedding in Louisiana. There are six weeks between the potential book tour and the wedding. The goal for the week of the book tour will be to maintain. I would like to be at or below 250 lbs. by this wedding, possibly starting to fit into a size 22, but probably wearing a size 24 dress to the wedding.

End of May — Cousin Katie’s wedding in Arkansas. Only a couple of weeks between previous wedding and this one, so would like to be around 242-245, or about 25-28 pounds less than current weight, which would represent an overall loss of about 70 pounds.

Mid-June — Cousin Kris’s wedding in Arkansas. Again, only a couple of weeks between events. But I would like to be able to wear a size 22 dress to this wedding.

June 30, 2009 — Expiration of the six-month short-term health insurance plan I’m currently on. To qualify for a “regular” (though still high-risk) plan, I would need to be down to 220 by this date, or, in other words, lose 50 pounds between now and then. I’m shooting for it, but I also know that I still have another two months after this that I can renew the short-term plan before I either have to switch to a regular plan or go 30 days without coverage before I can get onto another short-term plan.

September 2009 — ACFW Conference in Denver. There are 37 weeks between now and conference. If I can average a loss of 2 pounds per week, I could lose almost 75 pounds between now and then. However, I’m not going to set what feels like an unrealistic goal for myself. It took me over a year to lose 45 pounds; and even though I’m more committed now than I have been for the past several months, I don’t want to set myself up for failure. So I’m setting a goal of 60 pounds lost by conference, or down to about 210-215 lbs.—which should put me in a size 20, which is my goal size for whatever fancy outfit it is that I get for the awards banquet (unless I can actually fit into something smaller at that weight). That would be a total weight loss of 100+ pounds!

Thanksgiving 2009 — I want to lose 75 pounds between now and Thanksgiving. That’s forty-six and a half weeks from now, or an average of 1.6 pounds per week. If I can do that, it would put me below 200 pounds for the first time in almost 20 years.

What are your milestones and your health/weight/size goals for those events?

You look gorgeous! You’ve inspired me, in light of my recent news that I shared with you 😉 to join that Gyminee website and begin my own journey to return to my comfortable former size. I’ve probably gained about fifteen to twenty pounds since you last saw me, and it’s killing me not to exercise as I used to. Anyway, I send all my best love and kisses to you! I know you can do it!
